HitchBOT’s Trip Comes to Abrupt End in Philadelphia

HitchBOT, created in Canada, was an ambitious social experiment to see how people around North America and parts of Europe would respond to a robot seeking their help to get from place to place. After spending 26 days traveling throughout Canada, then 18 days in the Netherlands and 10 days in Germany, HitchBOT headed back across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. The child sized robot began its journey in Boston, and after two weeks arrived in Philadelphia, where it was vandalized and left on the side of a road. For now the experiment is on hold.
